What is Canstruction?

Canstruction® is the most unique food charity in the world!
Canstruction® was created by SDA (Society for Design Administration) and is a trademarked design/build competition held in dozens of cities worldwide and raised millions of pounds of food, which donated to local food banks in the fight against hunger.
Canstruction® combines the fun of a design/build competition with an ingenious way to help feed hungry people and raise awareness of food insecurity. Local architectural, engineering, design, and construction firms and other community organizations and colleges create phenomenal structures built entirely out of food. The structures go on display to the public in the month of September at South Coast Plaza. At the close of the exhibition, after the jury has awarded prizes for Best Meal, Best Use of Labels, Structural Ingenuity, Most Cans, Best Original Design, and People’s Choice, dll of the food is donated to the Orange County Food Bank (part of CAP-OC) for distribution to shelters, soup kitchens, and other emergency food programs.
Orange County Construction is proud to be one of the most successful and award-winning events worldwide, generally ranking in the top ten pounds of food and dollars raised along with prestigious International Design Awards.
Construction OC is supported by SDA, AIAOC and the Festival of Children Foundation.
